Describe the program's most important achievements and lessons learned:
As a federal program, aimed at inspectors and support staff of the labor inspection of the Territorial Agencies of the Ministry of Labor throughout the country, its implementation generated an enriching exchange regarding local and regional experiences and realities, which were shared through forums and content developed in response to the proposed work instructions. This has generated a greater understanding of these realities, of the perspective with which inspectors approach the problem in different latitudes in the face of different situations, generating greater knowledge and understanding of the challenges they face daily.
Likewise, this interrelation generated greater awareness of the problem.
The program has provided numerous training courses over the years in which more than 600 people were trained virtually, including inspectors, administrators and personnel with competence in the subject. Based on the comments received from participants, it is noted that these training activities have been very useful and beneficial for acquiring and/or strengthening practical tools, as well as theoretical aspects related to the subject matter and inspection procedures and unifying action criteria.
Describe the challenges of the program:
Specific objectives:
-
Strengthen child labor inspection, prioritizing the preventive role of the labor inspector as an agent of social transformation.
-
Reaffirm and value the powers and responsibilities that labor inspectors have as public officials within the framework of the International Conventions of the ILO and national laws.
-
Establish clear guidelines to harmonize the interpretative criteria on the way in which child labor and adolescent labor should be inspected.
-
Provide tools and deepen knowledge about the new laws on the Promotion of Registered Work and Prevention of Labor Fraud, to strengthen the role of inspectors as educational agents and their relationship with the prohibition of child labor and adolescent labor performed in an irregular manner in relation to current regulations.
-
Strengthen the labor inspection areas of the beneficiary institutions by providing them with tools that improve their skills and activities in such a way that they can effectively carry out the delicate task of identifying child workers.
