Describe the program's most important achievements and lessons learned:
There has been a decrease in time-loss injuries in 2003 and 2004. In 2003, the injury rate decreased by 4.81%; and in 2004, the rate decreased by 4.4%. This decrease is encouraging and continues to reinforce the need for increased enforcement and education activities.
Describe the challenges of the program:
The plan includes increasing inspections by 50%, from 3,000 to 4,500 per year. Generally, there has been an increase in cumulative or ergonomic reported injuries to shoulder, back and hands, and decreases in fingers and eyes.
