This Seminar was jointly organized by the Ministry of Labor and Employment of Brazil, the United States Department of Labor and the Organization of American States (OAS). It was part of the IACML Calendar of Activities for 2008-2009.
 
The Seminar provided an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and analyze various topics relevant to youth employment in the Americas. Technical representatives from 29 Ministries of Labor of the region participated, as well as members of COSATE and CEATAL, representatives of international organizations such as the ILO, IDB, World Bank, WAPES, and more than 10 non-governmental organizations. 

Description:

The Seminar provided a space for dialogue, reflection and exchange of experiences. It sought to identify lessons learned that will improve and enhance the effectiveness of the strategies and programs aimed at developing the potential of our youth through productive jobs and decent work.

Participants:

  • Officers from the Ministries of Labour of the 34 OAS Member States responsible for youth employment issues.
  • Representatives from COSATE and CEATAL.
  • Representatives from international organizations, officers from the ILO, IDB, civil society organizations, professionals and researchers on the subject matter, among others.
