Description:

In this activity, a delegation composed of three officials from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of El Salvador visited the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security (MTEySS) of Argentina for information in the area of gender mainstreaming within their institution.

During the event, the Salvadoran delegates learned about: the gathering of information on gender mainstreaming in the MTEySS, the implementation of projects regarding nontraditional occupations for women, the progress made in terms of regulation of domestic work, the operation of a quadripartite commission in the MTEySS, the project to create a Gender Bulletin in the Statistical Information System for the labor market, the progress made on the issue of sexual diversity, addressing the issue of workplace violence and the draft Act regarding workers in private households. Working relationships were also established between the two Ministries.

Among the next steps to take, Salvadoran delegates stressed the systematization of advice received and the assimilation of knowledge to further develop a benchmarking process and reconcile the most important advances obtained in the process of gender mainstreaming in both Ministries.

The experience offered in Argentina was an important input for effective implementation of the Plan of Action of the Participatory Gender Audit prepared by ILO/OAS in the last quarter of 2012.
