Gender-based violence and harassment

The Bilateral Cooperation Activity between the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS) of Uruguay and the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security of Argentina (MTEySS) on prevention of gender-based violence and harassment at work was selected in the framework of the 15th. Call of the OAS Inter-American Network for Labor Administration (RIAL) in March 2022, to be carried out virtually.
The RIAL, coordinated by the OAS, seeks to strengthen the human and institutional capacities of the Ministries of Labor of the Americas through cooperation and technical assistance between them. More information at www.rialnet.org.
OBJECTIVES AND PRODUCT
General objective: Creation of a “Manual to prevent and eradicate workplace violence with a gender perspective in the Ministry of Labor and Social Security”.
- Establish in the Manual clear procedures on how to detect, deal with, penalize and remedy cases of workplace violence. -Raise awareness and train officials about workplace violence, with emphasis on gender-based violence against women in that area.
- Disseminate the content of the manual in other public organizations.
- Promote the creation of a Commission for the implementation of the Manual and monitor the awareness workshops.
- Encourage the reporting of situations of violence and harassment at work and that the investigation carried out in the Agency be carried out as quickly as possible, that the confidentiality of those involved is maintained and that, in each case, if necessary, serve as an instrument of evidence in Civil Justice in a reparatory claim.
Product: At the end of the cooperation, the MTSS hopes to have a "Manual to prevent and eradicate workplace violence in the Ministry of Labor and Social Security”.
