Description:

On October 16 and 17th, 2019, a delegation of the Ministry of Labor of Colombia, formed by experts of the Policies Management of Labor Migration and the Public Employment Service, visited Ecuador to provide technical assistance on labor migration with an emphasis on attention to returned nationals.

During two days, the experts presented the Colombian policies for returned nationals to the officers from the Ministries of Labor and External Relations of Ecuador, especially those initiatives focused on inter-institutional coordination, the promotion of hiring returned migrants by national companies, professional training initiatives, and actions by the Public Employment Service through the information card for returned citizens.

In its Final Report, the Ministry of Labor of Ecuador highlighted the importance of having learned the procedure to develop an Information and Labor Orientation primer and the Employment Road Map for returned nationals.

Similarly, among their Next Steps and after consultation by the Technical Secretariat, the Government of Ecuador noted that elements addressed during the exchange will be used by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility to update the Catalogue of Services for Returned Migrants, a document that is used to disseminate regulations, services, and products to serve this population. They added that the Employment Road Map will be revised to apply, when possible, to the Ecuadorian case.
